About

The National Center for Autism Research and Education is a non-public, not-for-profit research supported school serving the educational needs of students with autism, grades 1-12. The specialized educational program is developed according to each individual’s specific need. The student ratio is 3:1, with a highly qualified teacher and trained assistant leading each class. Other staff provided includes, an Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, and an Adapted Physical Education Specialist for consultation or direct services as determined by their IEP.

The Mission of the National Center for Autism Research and Education is to provide a high quality program for those students whose behaviors related to autism have excluded them from being a part of a comprehensive public campus. We believe that all students have the ability to learn and when given the appropriate program(s), an individual’s behavior can and will improve. NCARE seeks to replace negative behaviors with positive actions through multi-sensory instruction. Staff will provide each student with an individualized program of instruction that includes such techniques as TEACCH and PECS.

The goal for each individual is that they develop a sense of self, an awareness of others, an ability to communicate, and ability to self-regulate personal behavior. Students will participate in small groups that focus on functional academics, speech/language proficiency, vocational skills, adaptive physical education, community training, and independent life skills. Furthermore, NCARE’s Research and Development Center will seek to discover advancements and knowledge concerning autism through various methods of medical and scientific research. These methods will be extensive and will not be limited by the norms of the past. They will include such methods as behavioral research and gene therapy.

The National Center for Autism Research and Education is a facility unlike any other. We seek to meet the challenges of autism today by improving personal understanding and treatment options. We are the facility of tomorrow, brought to you today!
